Basic Characteristics Of Shoulder Straps

Shoulder straps are functional cords that connect the front and back of the upper part of a garment, fitting snugly against the body and crossing the shoulders.

For children's clothing safety, standards stipulate that the free end of the shoulder strap should not exceed 14 cm from the point of attachment, and the circumference of the securing loop should not exceed 7.5 cm. Shoulder straps should be permanently secured to the front and back panels of the garment, or adjusted internally via buttons or other means; when using buckles for adjustment, the shoulder strap and loops should lie flat against the body.

Shoulder straps also serve to support items; for example, trench coat shoulder straps were originally designed to hang epaulettes, and their buckles can be unfastened to hang backpacks, binoculars, or water bottles, preventing them from slipping. In addition, shoulder straps can also serve a decorative purpose, making the shoulders and neck appear more upright.
