Medical bandage distal start

Medical bandages must be applied from the distal end of the limb towards the proximal end, starting at the tips of the fingers or toes and gradually extending towards the heart. This sequence helps promote venous and lymphatic return, reducing limb swelling. If the bandage is applied from proximal to distal, it creates an artificial narrowing ring at the limb's end, hindering blood flow and worsening bruising and edema.

The initial application is usually two loops to secure the end, then evenly wrapping upwards, ensuring consistent pressure distribution with each loop. This utilizes the physical pressure gradient to assist the circulatory system, achieving both therapeutic and protective effects.
